Ingredients

01 1 whole chicken, cut into 8 pieces.
02 1 cup buttermilk.
03 1 large egg, beaten.
04 2 cups all-purpose flour.
05 1/4 cup paprika.
06 2 tablespoons garlic powder.
07 2 tablespoons white pepper.
08 1 tablespoon celery salt.
09 1 tablespoon black pepper.
10 1 tablespoon dry mustard.
11 2 teaspoons kosher salt.
12 2 teaspoons onion powder.
13 2 teaspoons dried thyme.
14 2 teaspoons dried basil.
15 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano.
16 1 teaspoon ground ginger.
17 1/2 teaspoon MSG (optional).
18 Vegetable oil for frying.

Instructions

Step 01

Cut chicken into 8 pieces.

Step 02

Mix buttermilk and egg. Marinate chicken for at least 30 minutes.

Step 03

Combine flour with all seasonings in a large bowl.

Step 04

Heat oil to 350°F in a deep fryer or Dutch oven.

Step 05

Coat chicken in seasoned flour, shake off excess.

Step 06

Fry 3-4 pieces at a time, 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Step 07

Keep finished pieces warm in a 175°F oven while frying remaining chicken.

Step 08

Final internal temperature should reach 165°F.
